Default i-pod and i-tunes

I have been putting some thought into getting an i-pod. i like the fact of the space on it, and the availibility to save computer files on it also. my only problem is, will i use this thing more than a hand full of times?

Now if i DL i tunes, it cost me 99c a song, not bad untill you one day realize you have over a few hundred songs on it. does i tunes take a lot of space on my computer? are the songs on my i tunes universal, ex: if i buy a new computer do i have to re download them, or can i just log onto i tunes from any computer and get my songs.

last, how do you guys enjoy either of these products. the only time i listen to music is in my car on the cd, which is still stock. maybe i should just get a HU before i go i-pod. hook me up with advice and opinions, it will be appreciated. thanks......Frank

depends on how much you like music. when i have a huge playlist i tend to find myself skipping song after song after song untill i get to one i like. for road trips, its def. worth it. 20g-40g of songs is just way too many to listen to.. unless you have ALL of the songs organized by playlists

itunes is too expensive at 99cents a song. check out www.allofmp3.com for music... 1cent per MB you download and you can choose bitrate

I have the Ipod mini. Really like it; much more than my old MP3 player.
I don't like Itunes.

I have the 3rd gen 40 gig ipod and a pink ipod mini~

Love them both! I couldn't live without mine. I use the 40 gig as an external firewire hardrive for taking with me to school, and the ipod mini for working out and when I'm out and about.

Is an ipod worth it? yes and no, there are cheaper alternatives, but you will have to give up the "look at my ipod" part.

Harddrive space, if you hook up the mp3 player you most likely will be able to download directly to it. Unless they download in some wierd encrypted format.

allofmp3.com is a shady site. Not shady like thier going to steal you info, but shady as in the RIAA doesn't like them (just to be sure thats the german site right?)
I have only been there once, and dont care for mp3's much, but if they have year long subscriptions or stuff like that I would steer clear. The priating laws in germany are lax and will eventually be changed to make websites like that illegal

Now if i DL i tunes, it cost me 99c a song, not bad untill you one day realize you have over a few hundred songs on it.
Then on the other hand, you look at your CD collection and realize you have a few hundred of them at $15 a pop and you realize how much you overpaid...

does i tunes take a lot of space on my computer?
The program itself? No. The songs? No more than they do on your iPod. So if you have a full 40gb iPod, you'll need 40gb of space on your computer.

are the songs on my i tunes universal, ex: if i buy a new computer do i have to re download them, or can i just log onto i tunes from any computer and get my songs.
This is what you'll have to do:
1) Authorize your new computer to play songs purchased with your iTunes account.
2) Copy the song files from your old computer to your new computer.
3) Use iTunes on the new computer to import them into your new, empty library.
4) De-authorize your old computer to play those songs. (You can only have three computers authorized at once.)
5) Get rid of the old computer.

last, how do you guys enjoy either of these products. the only time i listen to music is in my car on the cd, which is still stock. maybe i should just get a HU before i go i-pod. hook me up with advice and opinions, it will be appreciated. thanks......
I only use my iPod at work, so I can have music without lugging around a big CD case. It's perfect for that. I don't have much experience using an iPod in a car, however.
