there's gotta be a free program that can do this. just do some searches on google for "ipod music transfer" or something... however, it is possible to do this without using any software but windows. hopefully you had enabled your Ipod to be used as file storage before the crash. If you had, then you should be able to view your Ipod in "my computer" when it's connected. you have to hunt around in the various folders for your music--and when you find the files, they won't be named correctly. You have to rename them to the appropriate song title/artist. very time consuming, but possible.

Oh I'll tell ya now...

Wait, is it itunes music? Check out Sharepod! If they're MP3s that you didn't pay for through Itunes then this application is the bomb.

Free, really solid application. Works very very, I've been using it lately with my Nano instead of Itunes, just to stick it to Apple.

Just install .net Framework to your computer then start up Sharepod. You can also drop Sharepod's files directly on to your Ipod through Windows Explorer so you can plug it in to any computer and transfer your music off. It doesn't require an installation, it just runs.

This is possibly the best information I've ever given out on here.

I like pizza, beer, and the little McDonald's cheeseburgers if anybody wants to get me presents
