Ick!
I'll be teaching a course in cash flow analysis presently, and I've been given the syllabus the last instructor used as a guide for my own.
It contains some bullet points.
Here's one:
"If you have a problem in following the material in class, or in the operation of your calculator, please do not ask your neighbor for help. Signal the instructor that you have a question or problem. Mini-conferences in class are extremely distracting to other students, are disquieting and result in a fulminating reaction from the instructor."
Honestly.

That's very true, but disrupting a lecture with stupid ass questions that could have easily been answered by paying attention is even MORE distracting to the entire class.
I hate students like that.
