We can agree to disagree, but I will leave you with this...I honestly hope you never have to find out how it is when the law is "enforced against you."
Good enough for me.

There are countless ways (and videos) of cops abusing their power, committing illegal acts, and getting away with it.
I won't argue that point, just add to it that the thousands of videos of "bad" cops are a very small amount compared to what there would be if every traffic stop and every incident was recorded and put online. The bad part is that no one uploads the regular "everything goes as it should" stop.

Again I'll finish with admitting that there are way too many incidents where they overstep, but the vast majority of cops are not doing this.

Not all cops are bad guys looking to give out pointless tickets.

I've gotten ticketed for exhaust being too loud, windows being tinted, driving a car that seemed "suspicious".

If the cop asked him if he was impaired by something, and he said Benadryl, then he could get arrested for being intoxicated. That may or may not be what happened though. The wording is so critical. I have the feeling we may not be getting the exact dialogue or story. >.<
Cops are not doctors. They do not posses the right NOR the knowledge to make that decision. However, if a bottle of medicine states that one cannot drive/operate machinery, then it becomes a problem for the driver. I believe the story. The OP admitted to someone he THOUGHT was a minor thing, he felt was 99% of good people feel, the need to talk/cooperate, and in turn, got himself royally screwed.
I understand that cops aren't doctors. Here's an example...

"Are you under the influence of alcohol or drugs?"
"Bendadryl"

Thats pretty much admitting that you are under the influence. Its stupid, for sure. Benadryl does make me a little drowsy, personally.

In my life time I have met more good cops than bad cops, maybe I have been... How do I say it... FluKy?

NFRs2000NYC it sounds like you are a lawyer, or a person who has been screwed or knows somebody who has been screwed by cops.

FTMFW!! They will bully you with all kinda of bs on the field in hopes that you will fall for it. IF you were drinking and driving then shame on you and if not the F those pigs, they will get it one day, I have been reading in the papers that karma is really starting to take care of the crooked cops. Admitting to taking damn near anything can potentially get you inline for a possible DUI charge

Benadryl can induce benzodiazepine like side effects and this isnt the first time I have heard of a DUI charge for Benadryl.

I'm not a lawyer. Just someone who knows his rights and doesn't let anyone trample on them. However, if needed, my wife, my brother-in-law, and my mother are all lawyers.

However, I've never had an issue dealing with police, especially during unlawful traffic stops like trap checkpoints, etc using my method described above.

I pretty much agree with alot of the comments here especially from NFRs2000NYC. OP, you could've handled this in a much better way. Aside from telling the officer you drank Benadryl, your major mistake was admitting guilt to DUI. IMHO, I don't even know why we have to tell you that you should not have admitted guilt to DUI. Just so you can get out faster? Mind you, DUI is a huge offense and not something that can just be taken off your record without the time you need to put in. For me, it's just common sense not to admit guilt for something you didn't do.

You hear all these stories of people getting arrested for really being DUI and pleading not guilty to try and get out of it, but here you are pleading guilty to DUI that you claim you werent just so you can get out of jail faster. Honestly, the time and effort you will need to put in to clear your name now is probably gonna take you even longer. I can understand the situation you were in but I can never understand how you can admit guilt to something you claim you werent. I would've let the judicial system run it's course instead of trying to go around it. Now look at where you at. Anyways, good luck trying to resolve this.

Agreed. I'm 22. And not white (brown). Ive been pulled over for and been threatened with loads of garbage like dui; etc. Tell them to kiss your ass and that they have to let you call your lawyer. A good lawyer should have you out within a day. Your an idiot for pleading guilty. Stupidest thing in the world.
