I'll be down there for a week, but unfortunatly only have one free day.
I am staying at this Hotel http://www.westinny.com/home.html
Firstly, is it as cool as it looks?
and secondly, The one free day I have is Sunday.. What should I absolutly do while I'm in that area?
Thanks!!

dude, that hotel looks freaking sweet!! I've never been there, so I couldn't help u in the tourist area, but if you like art, I heard The Museum of Modern Art and The Metropolitan are really nice elaborate places..
Haven't stayed there so can't help.
If you're into the arts, see a broadway show. You're right in the heart of times square so it couldn't be easier. There's a booth in the center of times square that opens at 3pm (I think) and sells heavily discounted tickets to that nights shows. There's usually a line, but its worth it.
There are a zillion places to eat so you'll have no problem there.
The museums are great as is the zoo. Central park is cool (especially when there's snow on the ground).
I guess it all depends on what you like. Have you been to NY before? Theres a lot of "touristy" stuff that you can do (Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Empire State building, etc.).

There are a million things to do in NY. It depends on what you want to do and how much you want to spend.
As for the hotel, I haven't stayed at a Westin yet that wasn't nice. When are you coming down?

Well I was in NYC once years ago, and sadly remember very little about the trip.
I don't want to do anything too touristy, I haven't even seen all the tourist attractions in Toronto yet!!
I do love art, museums and such.
Central Park..is it just a big park? or is there stuff to do there?
I suppose I will go to the top of the Empire State Building, just to say I was there.
I don't want to jam the day full of everything I can possibly fit in, I just want to do some really cool things that are unique to NY.
Ohh btw..if I run up on stage at Carnegie Hall and start singing, just how fast will I get arrested?
Thanks for the help
ahh addition to Turbo' s post..I'll me there from May3 to May 10th for the International Lighting Expo.
Money isn't a big deal, I'll expense everything.
Oh ya, I love to eat..any highlight restaurants, please let me know

The Westin is a nice hotel. The thing about staying in times square though, is the noise factor.
Actually, I think the Westin is on 8th Avenue. It's near Port Authority Bus Terminal and that's a bit of a shady area. There are a few remaining adult stores there, but everything has cleaned up in the past few years.
As for restaurants, if money is not an issue
, a good place for steak is Del Frisco's on either 49th or 50th Street and Avenue of the Americas (or 6th Ave). Stay away from Smith & Wollensky's on the East Side...it's all hype.
For Sushi, Nobu is really good. However, you have to make reservations a month in advance. If you can't make it, then Next Door Nobu is just as good.
Which, as the name suggest, right next door to Nobu. A little trendier, but you don't have to make a reservation that much in advance.
For Brazilian fare, check out Churrascaria Plataforma on 49th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues. This is the place for all kinds of meat. This is the place where they bring skewers of meat to your table. Also try their special Brazilian drink.
Definitely check out a Broadway show. There are a whole bunch of restaurants on Restaurant Row (46th Street between 8th and 9th Ave) that have prixe fixe pre-theater menu.
These are just some of my suggestions. There are so many great restaurants in NYC, but if you want to find out more, a good place to look is http://newyork.citysearch.com/
Oh, and don't forget, MOMA has moved to Queens. They have the Matisse Picasso exhibit from now until May 19.
Have fun and be safe!!
