Earlier posts have allayed my fears...but thought to reply to yours too Ichikawa27 ...wow, I used enough keys to type that!... I just killed my current ISP provider b/c I need funds for my Bruised Banana. I had just created a new e-mail account on yahoo 2 days ago. I had placed an order for the calendar & saw evidence that the e-mail should have been from a reputable source (i.e. it had indications/references to order-placement references I saw during my secured web-based order placement). Yet, Norton AntiV was telling me I had received a virus in my extremely new e-mail account. I'm sure you understand my consternation.

Again, to all...Thanks for the help/explanations. I feel better & I'll delete these e-mails immediately upon my return home this evening...

Bottom line is, don't open anything that you're unsure of. Always check with the originating source for confirmation and details on what attachments have been sent in accordance to the email description.

Very true. I was only tryng to show that they are not actually scripts. Scripts need other programs to run. Executables can run independantly.

Always be careful and look both ways before crossing the street.

Duh! My bad on the *.scr being scripts. Where the hell did that come from?

I was thinking *.vbs.... my bad!

In this case however I don't think the *.doc.scr that he received is a screen saver.

I have received a similar email from another member. I think this is a virus which spreads itself through your address book. It's a little smarter than the older models that just send out silly vague subjects. It appears to reply to received emails attaching a virus in the process. The danger of course is that it seems legit (because of the sender and subject).

I recommend McAfee's VirusScan Online. It's $30/yr and updates itself every day so it's always up to date.
