paying shipping only for a repair/replacement under warrantee is perfectly acceptable, even if it is a hassle. I would balk at paying shipping both ways, but when you buy a CF hood, I certainly would hope you have enough money left over to pay for things like shipping. And I don't know why someone would refuse to let the dealer handle an issue like this The dealer can decide whether to pass the extra shipping costs on to the customer, and the customer can then decide if they want to use the dealer again. Deciding that the manufacturer is being a jerk because they want you to deal with the dealer is bone-headed, IMHO.
No its not. If its a manufacturers defect, it should not have been sent out period. They have to pay for it. All REAL companies do that (if it is THEIR fault)

sorry, but that is simply not true. Most companies will repair or replace their products if you send it to them, but they don't pay shipping both ways. That is why you return the product to the people who sold it to you - they can pay the shipping, and deal with the manufacturer. When you order things though the mail, you get stuck with shipping every time. That is why mail-order is a last resort for most people.

Don't set high hopes when buying imitation CF. I've had 3 hood from them.
1st one: refused... was F'd up weave on the vents
2nd one: sold...was warped throughout the center
3rd one: turning yellow as we speak...

Actually.....don't set any real high hopes when buying CF.

It's like rolling dice....it's hit or miss and it's not a cheap game to play.

Pay the cost to be the boss!

Has anything original came from Seibon yet?

The only thing I'd ever buy from them would be the OEM CF hood.

we all know that now... i personally didn't know that seibon was made in china and was unaware of their defects.

and yes, mail order is that way. pay shipping. but both ways? you've already paid shipping once, when you made the purchase. you get it, it's bad, you gotta pay shipping to go back to the manufacturer and also pay the return shipping back to yourself? that's 3 payments of shipping and handling! unacceptable!
