Wink Im Writing a Book, why not?-Would you read it?

Well, I dont really have a skill for writing, however these past few years as a 20 something yr old airline pilot has left me with a lot to talk about. I am thinking of (have actually started) to write a book about what its like to be an Airline Pilot. This is not a "how to be an airline pilot", but more of the experiences I had during the first few years. I will cover stuff from sleeping with women I met at the hotel bars, to what its like to have a real life-threatening Emergency at 37,000ft,or the time I was able to purchase a prostitute in Gaudalejera Mexico and I was able to negotiate a great price via an English-Spanish translator on my computer, or the time a strange United Flight Attendant took me back to her room and poured mini bottles of Kahlua allover her body Its basically a glimpse of what I have been through, the sex, the pay, the stress etc and I think some of the stuff is pretty entertaining, so I figured I would give it a shot. As you can tell from this post my grammar is terrible, but Ill just have to find a good editor .

What do you guys think, would you pick up a book about this, or something like this?. I have a vision of the cover too . Basically me sitting in a chair at the airport in uniform surrounded by hot flight attendants.....me with my hat on, cocked to the side with a dumb smirk on my face.

I'd be interested in reading it.
Before I clicked this page, I thought it was going to be about that guy's story where he met some lady on a plane and some dude from this website copied the story and claimed it was his. I guess assuming isn't a smart thing to do.

i'd read the first chapter, and if the writing isn't as atrocious as your posts, then i'd consider reading the rest

Sounds interesting enough. You should post some excerpts.

Hurtful, yet funny

One of the first paragraphs, un-edited of course

"ding"............. whether you are flying from Newark to Syracuse, or from Atlanta to Dubai you have heard that noise. If you are privileged enough to be sitting in first class you may have even noticed a blue light being extinguished over the cockpit door simultaneously. This is not only an indication that "it is now safe to use your portable electronics" but it is also a sign that you just passed "10,000ft". For the guys and gals sitting up front in the flightdeck, its known as leaving "sterile", or "sterile cockpit" as the media likes to call it. The after take-off checklist is complete, the shoulder harness are released and were on our way screaming through the air at 290kts. Though most of you may expect us to be plotting our next turn or calculating our fuel burn, we're most likely talking about the attractive female in 12A, or perhaps the bitter Flight Attendant who had one too many vodka tonics last night at the hotel bar and asked me to help her with the "the alarm clock", as she aggressively rubbed the inside of my leg.

People always ask me what its like "to be an airline pilot", depending on how bitter I feel, I try to enlighten them on what it is we actually do up there for hours on end. More times than not I find myself talking about the experiences I had while having a drink at the hotel bar with a 40yr old mother of three, or what its like to operate a 50,000lb airplane at 500mph and 37,000ft in a space no larger than a miata with a person you met for the first time 20 minutes ago. Then when I really get going, I like to tell them how I bid for the longer "meal-time" flights because at $20,000.00 a year living in NJ taking the left over sandwiches is the only way I could feed myself. Other than that and a few other nightmare details there is nothing in the world like blasting through a cloud layer to be greeted by a setting
sun, it is one of the most beautiful things I have ever scene, and it's a shame that more people are not privy to the view. The view from the back is just not the same when you have a 12 yr old kicking the back of your chair, or when your stuck in between two 300lbs guys whom continually battle you for the arm rest during your six hour flight.

Before I get to involved in explaining why you sit on the "tarmac" for hours, or why your Flight Attendant probably hates you I guess I should introduce myself. I grew up the middle child of three in central Jersey and like most pilots found myself in awe of airplanes, as well as Airline Pilots at a very young age. Of course when I used to travel it was on an Eastern L-1011 and traveling was still a privilege, unlike the train wreck it has become, don't believe me? just ask the guy in the sleeveless shirt next to you, or the 400lb lady to your right who decides to take her shoes off, only to confuse you if that smell is coming from her feet, or from the Parmesan cheese that's on the Caesar salad up in first class.
