He might have done it before David Blaine, but he didn't.
Nevertheless, it's an old effect. It was old when David Copperfield did it it, I believe, the late '80s or early '90s on the Orient Express: the card ended up on the outside of the window on a moving train. It wouldn't surprise me if the effect were 100 years old.
