Can someone help with pricing the cost of setup of an injection moulded part? I understand that the moulds are very expensive but is there a way to make small-run parts (like 100) without the huge upfront costs?

cthree, my ex has been trying to do this for nearly a year with the sub box for the cubby behind the taillight. Simply put, if he could have found a way to do it, there would be many, many sub boxes sold already rather than the design now waiting for JL Audio's potential approval.

If you find someone reasonable, please let me know!

Nope.

If there was a way we'd all have the Spoon intake duct for $100 instead of $450

Or the brake duct, or many many (commandant Lassard's voice from Police Academy) other pieces

Sorry, Cthree. They are right. A few of my customers do injection moulding. I would be happy to price something out for you. But, 100 pcs is a very small qty. The price of the mold is by far the most expensive part. On average they can go from 10k up to 30k. So its in the volume of the units that the price begins to drop. The pellets they use to make the product are worth pennies. So it leaves you in that stupid place of Is it worth it or not?
If you have any specific questions just let me know.

Mike
