Seems a bit useless to me. If you need to look down to figure out what gear you're in, you shouldn't be driving a manual.

Neat "gadget" though I guess.

does it prevent 5-2 down shift?
the person would downshift look down and say, I am not supposed to be in second gear, let's go to fourth gear instead.
