iPhone owners!
gosh, that's the thing about cases...I hate bulky ones!
I don't wear a murse and I refuse to carry my phone on a belt holster. I have to wear a 2-way pager for work and that's nerdy enough. So, it's definitely going in a pocket.
So, would you deem AppleCare totally worthless since the iPhone comes standard with some manufacture warranty(I forget the lifespan)?

the plans imo are good for one thing and not another which sucks.
my friends with apple care have had their phones replaced up to three times for problems with the phone itself, but wont cover damaged phones.
best buys plan is nice because you can break it into pieces and they will give you a loaner phone until you get your phone back from apple(supposedly) which in most cases they give you a new one if there is damage to the phone.
At&t doesnt offer their insurance with it which is just retarded to not offer insurance on some of their phones.
i myself will probably go with best buy when i get mine. 15 a month is not bad considering i will probably break it 3 times in a years time.

I'd have to disagree with the statement that they are delicate. Read my other post plus I have 4 others with kids and wife and they've done just about everything I have and more with no probs.
My buddies iphone fell out of his pocket as he was gettin in his car and he ended up running it over with his car.... the screen didnt even break! All that messed up was the button on the bottom... get a good case.. I would suggest an ifrogz case.. they arent bulky at all and protect pretty well. They come in several different colors and the styling I feel to be good.. but thats a matter of opinion. They are only about $20 on ebay.
My first generation iPhone was rugged as hell: never in a case, dropped lots of times, and never had an issue. I had AppleCare for it but never needed to use it.
The 3GS is considerably more delicate. It's been in a case since day 1.
The warranty isn't a bad idea, but consider that if you're like me, you probably won't even keep the phone for a full two years before upgrading. The first year's protection is provided for free, so the additional year may not end up being that necessary. Up to you either way.

My homeowneers/renter ins covers mine. they consider it to be a personal computer, not a phone. they replaced my wifes no questions asked, and she admitted to them that she drove over it in the Ridgeline

I got it for my 3G and had it replaced twice with software problems, had never dropped the phone. Once the screen just went black and wouldn't do anything the first 2 weeks of ownership than the replacement had battery issues, both replaced trouble free with AppleCare but it was purchased and wasn't free the first year.
I've dropped my iPhone three times in a year, not a scratch on it with this case - http://www.case-mate.com/iPhone-3G-Cases/C...Vroom-Cases.asp

Explain that please, I was under the impression that is was covered for free for 30 or 90 days. Past that you needed that AppleCare warranty which is only good for a year for $79.

You may be thinking of the phone support that is only for 90 days unless you get applecare where it is extended to two years. I just go to the apple store if I have a problem so that phone support is worthless to me. I can usually find the answer I need with a google search a lot faster than I could call anyways.
