I have one. Unlocked for 3rd party applications and used with Tmboile. I believe it is only worth it if you unlock the phone and are able to add 3rd party apps. I am able to do everything and "MOD" the crap out of it. There is a forum for adding different applications to the phone and soooo many useful ones too. Now, I don't believe it is worth it with what they only offer to you when you buy it. This phone has so much potential and the only way to really enjoy it is to have it unlocked IMHO.

As far as problems, I believe it is no different than any phone you get but nothing too serious. Maybe, my one complain is battery life but what can you do. Basically, I think this phone is AWESOME unlocked.

Is the phone worth the money? To some, no, to me, DEFINITELY.

I would personally wait till the 3G version comes out. A CEO of Apple opened his mouth at the CTIA show this past week about it, stating it will be here within a couple months.

Look at how the phone has changed the wireless industry. Each carrier is now trying to make a copy of the phone, that should be an indication on how successful it was. In fact, I was reading a statistic the other day at work - BTW, I used to work for a company called Wireless Toyz - and 25% of the phones bought last year was an iPhone. The phone has been released for close to a year now and it's still a hot phone.

I don't know about that one. The reason it's not out yet is that Apple can't get 5 hours of talk time per charge with the 3G running. Other 3Gs get 3-4 hours but Apple won't put their name on the phone until it hits 5 hours of use. The current phone is about 9 hours since 1.1.3's optimizations. I'm not sure that I'd trade half the talk time for $200 more for the few times that I'm not next to WiFi. We'll see if they can work magic by August.

Here's a little more background on this:

is it really worth it to get the new one anyways? 3g is not readily available EVERYWHERE yet...and by that time there will be a wifi spot anywhere you go. Every mall has one...almost every coffee shop has one and we all know theres a starbucks in every corner. The only way the iphone will be worth it is if its unlocked. I have mine unlocked and using it with tmobile. I had a blackberry and swore by that device but after owning an iphone i cant go back to anything else. definately worth it.
