Ipod w/Itrip or some other brand?
Hi guys and girls, I am thinking about getting a Ipod and Itrip to use is mainly in my car, so I don't have to burn CDs all the time. But I'm kind of don't want to spend toooooo much money on it. Any recommendation on other brand of mp3 player that is equally as good, if not better, than Ipod??
Any suggestion will help.
Thanks

check out the Dell DJ's. I had a first gen. model and it was great. Gave it to my sister 'cause I found a great deal on a larger capacity iPod that I couln't pass up. I feel the iPod is no better than the Dell I had, and its considerably more expensive.
iPod is the best player

And as far as an iTrip goes, its fine, but any FM transmitter will sound poor next to a burned CD regardless of mp3 player. I suggest wiring the iPod right to your stereo. If you have aftermarket or stock, you can do this. Read this thread too.

I have an iPod with iTrip that I use for my car stereo. It does the trick just fine. Plus, when you get yo wherever you're going, you can take it out of the car and play it through the house stereo... very convenient.
I understand some people do ok with the iTrip, but let me just share my experience - the thing totally sucked!
I could not get this thing to sound clear in my car. I tried all the stations and my only solution was to hold the thing in my hand (making my body a sort of antenna) to make it sound clear. If I put it down anywhere it was static-filled and awful sounding.
I agree with the above poster - wire it straight to the car.

That was my problem too - no dead air to use, so the transmitter had to overpower stations, even if it was just buzzy sound. My last car just had an RCA plugged into the car stereo on one end, and a 1/8 stereo adapter plugged into the other where I plugged the iPod into. That worked great, cost me only about $15, and its really simple - much better than FM, but not quite a fully integrated adapter that works with the HU and powers the iPod.
Maybe that's the trouble. My city only has about a dozen radio stations, so there are plenty of dead-air channels which I can choose from. I get great reception and great sound from my iTrip - never had any problems with reception
