Only a few years ago, premium was around a buck. Now, it's heading towards $3 very soon. BUSH SUCKS! Iraqi war sucks!

Bush has nothing to do with the oil prices going up. OPEC cutting down there share of oil is a major part of the reason. If the Iraq war was all about oil which some people say why isn't gas so cheap right now....We have a presedential candidate Kerry who voted to raise gas prices...ahhh lets not go political and have this closed.

Yes, but economists say that the gas price hikes are due to the problems in Iraq, and Bush is involved in Iraq. It is not the only cause, but is a major one.

Why do some states have higher octane than others? Some even have 94-octane.

It has been worse...

Unleaded regular hit $1.75 a gallon in March. How does that compare with U.S. gas prices during the past 85 years?
Year - Cost at the time - Cost in 2004 dollars

1919* $0.25 $2.75

1929* $0.21 $2.34

1939* $0.19 $2.52

1949* $0.27 $2.10

1959* $0.31 $1.96

1969* $0.35 $1.77

1979* $0.84 $2.21

1989 $1.02 $1.48

1999 $1.17 $1.27
