Jedi, the religion.
What a bunch of losers...especially the one "building" them...instead of having to build them from scratch, he could have just gotten one of these: http://masterreplicas.com/customer/starwar..._list.php?cid=9Wait, wait, that's right...part of the "Jedi" experience is to build your own saber from scratch...
oh boy...

it's crazy how into it these kids get.
What amuses me the most is that the Jedi, lightsabers and Star Wars in general all came from the imagination of George Lucas. And now, these people believe that this is actually real, and the force is real and Jedi "ism" is actually some sort of religion.

I remember reading an article about some sort of census in Australia where citizens were supposed to write down their religion. If the religion was but down by enough people and met a certain threshhold, it was officially recognized by the government and there were certain benefits to this.
There was some sort of internet campaign and so many people, as a joke, put "Jedi" down and it met the threshold. The elected officials were upset and trying to take steps to get it removed from the list. Don't know what the result was.
As for these people taking it too seriously, some do. There are plenty of nerds in their parents basements. But alot of these guys play it up becuase they know they get a rise out of the rest of you. There are plenty of star wars nerds, star trek nerds, lord of the rings nerds. Some even dress up like retards and run around in public. I got a dog named "Chewbacca"
It aint much different than someone who obsesses day and night over hitting a little white ball and chasing it all over 18 holes and spends thousand of dollars on it. Or spends all day in his basement watching cars drive really fast in a circle while chugging beer. Or a guy who spends every nickle modifing his cars to get and extra tenth of a second off his quarter mile. A guy I work with is 35 and spends about $100 a month on wrestling pay per view and gets wrestling magazines.
People like different stuff. That said.......I would love to have a stormtrooper costume on a manequin in my home theater room if anyone has one laying around.

The Force--let alone common sense--was definitely not with them.
Two British Star Wars fans sustained critical injuries after constructing their own lightsabers from fluorescent light tubes filled with liquid fuel.
According to British media reports, a 20-year-old man and his 17-year-old female friend were filming a mock duel in homage to Star Wars: Episode III--Revenge of the Sith, the latest chapter of George Lucas' record-breaking franchise.
The duo were reportedly emulating one of Sith's key battles, a lightsaber clash between Ewan McGregor's Obi-Wan Kenobi and Hayden Christensen's Anakin Skywalker.
The two Brits suffered severe burns when their homemade sabers exploded. The two had been videotaping their clash. They have been hospitalized at Hemel Hempstead in Hertfordshire since the accident Sunday.
Aside from fiery accidents, the Sith craze is being blamed on a string of robberies. In separate incidents in Illinois and Florida, dark side-inspired crooks wearing Darth Vader helmets are being sought by police on assault and robbery charges.
Meanwhile, in other Sith-related news, federal authorities have shut down online file-sharing network Elite Torrents. The network had Star Wars: Episode III--Revenge of the Sith available as a download hours before the film even bowed in U.S. theaters on May 19. Officials for the Justice Department and Department of Homeland Security said users of the site had downloaded Sith more than 10,000 times in its first 24 hours of availibility.
Still, the online leak hasn't hurt Sith's bottom line, as the film broke all kinds of box-office records, including a Chewbacca-size $50 million on its first day of release.
All told, the film has raked in nearly $183 million domestically, per BoxOfficeMojo.com, with the lucrative Memorial Day weekend looming.
