Default Joe Girard's Law of 250 - very interesting

I stumbled upon an interesting read today:

************************************************** **
Girard's Law of 250 says that every person on the average knows at least 250 other people.

His thoughts were that if you just make 1 person mad or upset, they will go out and tell 250 other people what a klutz Joe Girard is, and then each of those, will go tell 250 of their friends the same thing.

But, if you treat everyone with respect and honesty, they will praise Joe Girard to 250 of their friends. "It doesn't take a mathematical genius to know that Girard's Law of 250 is the most important thing you can learn."

************************************************** **

As I also work in customer service, this attitude is more than important. If my company's products you bought at Staples or elsewhere was defective, and you got a bad warranty service deal from the Mingster, then I most likely have pissed off 250 or more potential customers!

I dunno bout that, It's like that 6 degrees of separation thing, I am sure it doesn't apply to everyone, interesting though..

at the supermarket i work on (ugh) they make it clear that when you please a customer, they remain a customer, but when you upset them it is likely that they will tell at least 8 peoplea bout their experience. don't ask me where they get these statistics, but its most likely true
