Default Jury duty sucks!!!!

I recently was chosen for Jury duty. I was there from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm today. And since I work 2nd shift, I had to go to work until 10:00pm. All for $10 a day. Anyway, Anyone have experience with this, my first time.

Greg

yeah@!@!@! i went today too
i have gotten called in 3 times in the past 3 months. each time it was canceled so it didnt count as my once per 5 years.
so today i forgot to call ahead of time to see if i needed to show. and i went anyway. turns out it was canceled. but the one that i happend to show up for needed more jurors anyway. so they made me stay. now i have to go every other tuesday for the next month and a half. and i guess this one is grand jury.
shitty

I know individuals that simply toss it in the can. Not the right thing to do but how do they know you recieved the summons? How can anyone prove that you recieved the summons or that someone didn't steal it out of your mailbox or if it got mixed up with a grocery store insert and tossed?

Not in California, it just appears one day in your mailbox.

I think common sense says that a summons delivered by regular mail isn't really a valid summons, but try telling that to a judge. They can (and sometimes do) issue a bench warrant if you don't show up.

I've been called once and I could have been on call for 2 weeks. Fortunately, PG County has lots of crime so I sat for a trial the first day and was back to work by lunch time.

omfg you just reminded my that i had jury duty too! i just checked my summons and i was supposed to call in like 3 weeks ago! hey what happens if you forget to call in? dam it. I've done jury duty a couple years ago and it was actually kind of fun and educational, but i am in school now, so i wouldn't be able to serve.
