For someone to become that size though there is something definitely wrong with his metabolism. I don't think it's right for the government to take away a child because of a health problem.

I dunno. Something tells me that if you feed a kid enough of this new-and-'improved' trans-fat junkfood, a kid could balloon up to 250lbs.

Is there someone licensed in this sort of thing around here? Food Chemists? Lunch Lady?

Not necessarily. As mentioned in the above post, the processed foods on the market today will do wonders for putting on "dirty" weight.

Have you ever seen Maury? Some of the kids on the show were eating more in a single day then I eat in an entire week. (And I'm >200lbs)

Sure some kids may have a retarded metabolism (I don't mean stupid), but IMO its 99% the parents fault.

This kid's about an hour north of me. It's been all over the news.

I'm not suggesting that that parent doesn't have some responsibility (nor am I suggesting that it is just some undiagnosed medical condition), but I think there are better solutions than to take the child away from his mother (unless it can be proved that she is in some way abusing him intentionally).
