I think the worst things after a break up from a meaningful relationship is going places that you used to got to with her and seeing material possessions that she has given you as gifts or has left at your place. So, just make sure not to go anywhere you guys used to go together (at least for now) and try to avoid her things.

I found that the hardest thing to do was stashing away her little gifts that she gave me, but I had to do it or else they would haunt me for a long time.

Stay strong man...

I just broke up with my GF after a 7 year relationship. Now I am going through major withdrawals and have to keep busy in order to not think about things.

I contemplated taking off for awhile but decided against it because I would have a lot of downtime to think.

I understand what you are going through because I feel like I am going through the same things you currently are. The one rule I think anyone going through a major breakup should do is concentrate on yourself, and just do what you can do to get yourself ahead in life. Keep your calendar busy and schedule lots of new activities.

This seems to be helping me a lot. Now I have signed up for GMAT test prep courses and preparing for Grad studies. In addition, I have a few race car events to attend and planning on a couple autocrosses. I have been watching a lot of movies lately and reconnecting with some old friends.

Vegas would be a GREAT place to go. Hit rain, Studio 54, and PURE. Dress up and buy ladies some drinks and you won't go home alone if you don't want to.

Vegas would be fun no doubt. If you're up for an even longer trip, I HIGHLY recommend Key West. It's not that expensive to stay there this time of year, and Key West will put a smile on your face for sure. Just make sure you stay north of Denny's on Duval St. and you will be AOK!!!

At first I wanted to go Las Vegas but we been there so many times and I really don't want to go to places she and I used to go. Going to Hawaii is different, this is going to be my first time in Hawaii.

Why do you care if it's a place you've been? Even a dog farting is going to remind you of her.

If you go to Hawaii, you'll find something that will remind you, etc...

I say go to Vegas and get drunk. You'll have a better chance of forgetting about her there instead of Hawaii. What single woman goes to Hawaii?
