I picked up some roman coins from ages ago.....serious I mean it!
Looks to be made out of copper, very old dug out of a Estate Auction in Savanna GA this week
A old man died and they auctioned all his stuff off had lots of nice coins and stuff but I thought this was worth the most......from the info I gathered they tend to be more than 500+ years old.
Tried to take close ups and my camera sucks big time!
I can offer a suggestion for better results if you plan to post photos on the net for ask "what's it worth". Get a piece of white foamcore board (or other strong white background) and photograph the coins on that. Get a table lamp, or whatever lamp you can and get it close (out of frame) to the coin. Use your flash. If you have a tripod use that too.
This way you'll have good contrast and max detail in your photos. While it's not the perfect studio photography solution, it will help a bunch. the coins are getting lost in the woodgrain background of you desk. Better yet, if you have a flatbed scanner use it!
thanks...going to do research this week.....these are older than dirt!!! most are still covered with dirt and the smell is horrible copper!
I only cleaned 2 of them to get a better look...now I will not touch them at all
The Estate still has lots of coins but they are 1912-1960's mint Japanese, US, and Perto Rico currency.....I was only interested inthe stuff that is rare........anyone interested in the other coins pm me and I will give you a link on how to obtain them.
