I too went and saw it last night. Opening night in the largest theater in town (800 seats) Only about 75 people. This was/is the WORST movie I have ever seen - EVER. I was so excited to go and see it, even though it got bad reviews.
God - it sucked. Even the race footage was bad. Wrong cars in the wrong order (compared to 'announcer' in movie) VERY fake computer images. Cars flying 70 feet high in the air. Etc, etc. Not to mention the LOVE story crap that was going on as well. Berrnie and the F1 crowd must be going "Thank god we didn't let him do it about F1." Only see this movie if you want to laugh at it.

I also saw it opening day, I took it for what it's worth. And the CGI was not that bad, Yep we could have lived without the love romance, I guess to each his own, I've seen plenty worse than this movie. One comes to mind about 20 years ago, called "Yor" now that was a really bad movie.

I was willing to suspend belief when the car caught fire in the water, (methanol is diluted in water) and during the CGI sequences (CART cars don't really fly like that) BUT I did not care for the way they showed cars involved in BIG crashes and then you see them in the pits towards the end of the race. I'm all for "creative" liberties, but that was just sloppy editing. I must say, for a rabid race fan, they did manage to create a suspensful feeling, and the quick cuts to suspension parts, throttle linkages moving, and drivers feet working the pedals reminded me of Grand Prix.

NO Way - You can not compare this movie to Grand Prix. Not in any way. Hell, Days of Thunder was better than this chunk of MTV edited crap. After the first 10 minutes we all started laughing. I didn't know that ALL of the hot chicks in the world hung out at races? My favorite was the shots of gals eating the hotdogs / corn dogs / popsicles / foot long subs / etc. BUT it still sucked

Hold the Phone! I will not go down in history as saying this movie compared to Grand Prix! Uh uh, you are not pinning that quote on me! JUST the part with the mechanical stuff moving.......... that's all! Well there was the "love triangle" thing.......
