The show loves having Ken around... their ratings are through the roof. Believe me, they don't want him to lose yet...

I wonder if someone manages to beat Ken this week (or whenever), if he/she will go on an even longer run. Ken seems to have a gift of timing on the button and knowing some rather arcane info.

And Ken has done wonders for Jeopardy's ratings. This show has been on for 20 years, and it's never been talked about in mainstream media. My local radio stations have been talking about it, even!

Whoever beats Ken will not have a long run I suspect.. I think it's more of the "Ken lost" scenario rather than that "Someone beat him" scenario.

It seems like great streaks are rarely broken by great competitors. Drysdale, Gagne, DiMaggio, Marciano, Tyson... How many of you remember Buster Douglas? After he beat the unbeatable Tyson, he went absolutely nowhere.

Nope... we won't see another one like Ken for quite a while

Ken was "Person of the Week" on some news show on <cough, cough> CBS (which happened to air right before Jeopardy on Friday.. cough). The guy's pretty cool. He's donating a lot of his winnings to the Mormon church and public television.

Did you guys like that Alex Trebec said Ken could afford to buy a condo in LA now because he's here so often? Only in LA ... win a million bucks, pay half to Uncle Sammy, and with your $500,000 left you can't even buy a house. That's gotta suck. At least he can buy 10,000 cases of non-alcoholic beer and live like a king in Utah

Donating to the church? What a waste.

The Cult of Ken Jennings

Various news articles have stated that Ken Jennings, the Jeopardy contestant who has won 31 straight games and $1 million, is back in Utah after taping the currently airing episodes months ago, implying that he lost at some point (neither Jennings nor Jeopardy employees can reveal any details about future Jeopardy episodes).

But what if the show is just on a summer break from taping? Perhaps Jennings is still the reigning champion and will remain champion for years to come. The nerdy Mormon's appearance on television will become a part of normal life in America. Lincoln's on the $5 bill. Sun rises in the east, sets in the west. Michael Bay's movies suck. Ken Jennings is the Jeopardy champ. There are now three constants in life: death, taxes, and Ken Jennings.
And it goes on. A good quick read before 7pm tonight!
