This isn't a real picture, but it's one of my favorite "military" ones...

A-10 warthog... by far the most beautiful plane I know of. Built to literally be a flying tank. Can take a DIRECT HIT from a SAM or ATA missile and be able to fly home... how? There are only two electrical systems on board: The radar and the mission ordinance computer. Everything else is hydraulic or manual. Hell, they plot courses by HAND in the A-10... and then you have the Avenger Cannon, the biggest baddest vulcan cannon EVER. I love it ^_^

The A-10 is the flying definition of the BFG... Big F*cking Gun The gun is offcenter to the left of axis because the firing barrel has been aligned DIRECTLY down the axis because the Avenger is so powerful it actually slows down the jet. If the gun were mounted centered, the A-10 would be pushed off axis by the force of the gun. I hope they build a Mark III

I also remember something about the SR-72 and how they tried mounting a variant of the avenger on it, but they didn't follow through on the plan because they figured out that if the gun fired, the bullets would be travelling slower than the Blackbird.

SR-71 speed is Mach 3.2, over 2,100 MPH! Mind numbingly fast, especially considering it's been around since 1966!
