A few years ago Arnold Palmer hit a drive left and they taped it as it hit some guy square on the top of his head.... he was just on the left side of the fairway out 200 yards or so...... Somehow I don't think it even really hurt him..... seems like it would.

I Remember Tom Kite at the US Open in Long Island (forget the name of the course) in roughly 1997...the green was rounded... he pitched up and over, then up and over, then up and over.... then he went nuts with his iron and started whacking the hell out of the ground in a rage..... then the camera's stopped showing him....

Ray floyd duffed a fairway shot that they showed... he did a worm burner for about 100 yards....

besides that the pro's really don't mess up like the rest of us.

either last year or the year before, all of the past champions at the Masters (read: really old men) had a ceremonial first tee shot. Sam Snead, who has been said to have the sweetest swing golf has ever seen, hit one off the toe of his club and smacked some spectator right square in the face. The impact of the ball shattered the fan's glasses and caused a few minor cuts but nothing serious. Of course, Augusta National was very apologetic and loaded the guy with balls, shirts, shoes, jackets...the works.

Honestly, the average joe-golfer will never have the tee box or green lined with spectators
