Last time you "wrote" & sent a letter?
I keep a stock of custom stationary, both personal and business, that I use often. Most of the time, it's for a thank you or a sympathy note but sometimes just to say 'hey'. As our society moves more and more to e-communication, a simple hand-written note truly stands out.
I make it a point to write notes by hand often. As 8-ball just stated, an actual hand-written note stands out more and more each year as e-mail takes over routine communication. It's becoming a much more personal thing to do. For example, I correspond by email and by written letter with someone I met while studying abroad in Japan, and it is much more impressive and gratifying to receive a letter I know has taken time to hand-write.
Besides, it's awesome to get a letter with perfume on it. Way better than an email or text message saying "XOXO" or I *heart* you. I just think about how nice I feel when I get a *real* letter, and it feels good to give that feeling to someone else. Pragmatically, the paper stationary you keep at home will absorb some of the scent of your home, such as your cologne or pheromones, and scent is the sense most connected to memory. So think about that the next time you think to send an email to an old flame saying that you'll be in town for a few days...
