Based on what I saw with "Slow Jams the news," he's on the right track. . .
I saw his first show, and that bite was definitely the funniest thing.

He looked so nervous on stage. I hope he loosens up.

No other good talk radio that I can podcast anymore. I just listen to local radio now which pretty much sucks. Ive been searching around for other shows but I cant really tolerate anything.

...did you see him on the roast of bob saget? he was actually really funny.
Well I just YouTube'd it, and I must say that apparently I'm missing the joke. In fact, if you ask me, Saget's friends looked a bit forced in their laughter at McDonald's punch lines. The Bill Shatner roast that most definitely was not (though thankfully devoid of the tired gay jokes that plagued that one).

If you only saw Norm, or Bob Saget for that matter, on braodcast TV you really don't know much about their sense of humor. Both have really warped and dirty minds and come up with the most jokes that make you say "Now thats just WRONG!" but bust a gut laughing.

I give Norm the edge though because he is more angry and would probably just argue with everybody.

I love this old Conan clip....
I've listened to a Norm McDonald comedy album. About halfway through it, I had maybe laughed once. It was so bad I moved on to the much funnier David Cross albums my cousin had provided me. I've also watched some Saget, and while I think he's funnier than Norm, I think the whole oh-I-can't-believe-the-goody-two-shoes-daddy-actor-from-Full-House-said-that! routine is lame. The problem with Saget is the same as with Dice Clay, the punch lines are just different; being raunchy for raunchy's sake lends to a very short-lived and ultimately self-defeating display. I've seen Saget flail wildly trying to draw laughs from the audience by simply injecting more vulgarity or profanity. That's not comedic skill IMO. Granted every comedian has a bad night or a tough crowd, but it wasn't like I was laughing and the audience in the video wasn't.

As for Fallon, I wasn't trying to make the case that I thought he was 100x funnier than Norm. I don't think Fallon is that gifted either; I just thought he'd be a better choice, as painful as that seems to be panning out. Nobody liked Conan much when he started either, but he was (IMO) without a doubt funnier than pretty much any late night act I can think of, including Kimmel, even after Andy left.

Again, to each their own, but I think there's a reason I haven't seen NM in many places the last several years.

I'll quote Carolla...

He's Kaiser Soze with a gambling problem. They'd only have about 1 1/2 shows a week.

Norm MacDOnald on Weekend Update

"Madonna gave birth to a healthy 9 pound baby boy this week, making it the second largest object ever to pass through her vagina......."

Guys like Fallon or Seinfeld will never come close to a line like that. Its both to edgy and too funny for each of them.
