LCD or Plasma?
Thanks vader1,
I will sure look at Mistubishi, their sets are some of the best, but they are a little expensive.
What I hear is that there will be either a 4-wheel or 6-wheel DLP sometimes in the summer, and it is supposed to be better than the current DLP.
Then there is a new technology, LCoS, which can be very good and inexpensive.
So many choices and it is hard to get the most for your money

You can't go wrong with brand names like Hitachi, Toshiba, Mitsubishi and Panasonic.
If it was no holds barred, I'd probably opt for a DLP at the moment. Even though a CRT RPTV will give you the best picture short of going with a pure CRT, the DLP has the benefits of size, and no screen burn in issues. LCOS is excellent too. Both the Sony SXRD and JVC's JiLA are great.
If I were you, I'd set my budget no higher than $2k (1500 would be ideal) and get whatever you like in this budget. Reason being, within 7yrs there's going to be some kick ass displays available at good prices that'll blow the current gen stuff out of the water.
A decent display now will give you good HDTV viewing and get you into the whole 16x9 big-screen thing. If you can find it, get something with 1080p resolution, this will make you more future-proof.
