A friend of mine was recently stationed in Italy with the military, and when he mentioned Le Mans, I was all over it.

Now about S2KDays, I have a little obligation to it as an organizer.

You bet, if you camp, you actually stay on the inside of the track. In 1999 when Toyota was running, I saw some japs, just sleeping in a sleepsacks on the grandstands, that's what I call enthusiasm

But with the downpour this year I must admit that some of the race was watched on Eurosport from the sattelite dish, which we had on our camper this year. But of cause with the door open, so we had live "sound"

Best regards

OK, I've gotten complaints about my "apparent" lack of appropriate enthusiasm for S2KCA over this thread, so I'd like to clarify a few points. For those who missed the humor, I've worked too hard to make S2KCA a success to miss S2KDays. It was a joke... sorry some missed the point when I stated that S2KDays was as much of a rush to me as Le Mans. I think it makes an important point that one is as monumental to me as the other, and I think just about ANYONE would have a hard time choosing, but I would hope that my choice would be clear.

Attending the Le Mans race IS the chance of a lifetime that I will never have again, but my true passion is S2KCA. I'm sorry some of you missed that point.

It would be an easy choice for me too. . . I can almost hear the V-12's rapping off the night as they scream down the Mulsanne straight. It's a true endurance race and a good share of the driver's hate it. It tests the limits of the cars, the drivers, the teams, and often the spectators as well - especially this past June when the weather was really bad. Tough as it is, it's a tradition that live's on - and well it should. Who will knock the Audi R8's off the pedestal? A lot of manufacturers will be trying.

You just right, when you say a lot of drivers dont look forward to this race, here are some words from some of the top placed drivers in the 2001 race.

SUN,

I'm sure this year's was worse than most, as your testimonals suggest. I followed the Rover MG account of the race and it went along those same lines.

Luxembourg, as I recall, isn't too far from LeMans. I've been there as well. All I recall is touring a very old castle and pretty country side, that's somewhat hilly if my memory is correct . . . which is probably unlikely.

I've got a good friend from England who lives in Michigan now and he's always talking about getting a group together for LeMans. It wouldn't take much prodding for me go back. LeMans and the Indy 500 (before it became a joke) remain as two of the greatest events in all of motor sports in my book. Their rich history is frozen in time . . .

Now if I could just afford to take the S2000 along, I could blast through Germany at 150 mph like I did at one time in an XKE!

Yeah it was amazing to hear on radio Le-Mans, how many cars actually had huge problems with electronics and water coming into the cabin. But the main reason was that almost no one had had the chnace of testing in rain, during the spring test trials.

What you describe could be Luxembourg, or any other central European area But yes we only have around 600km from here to Le-Mans, the bad thing is, that we have to go by Paris to get there !

I actually oredred the camp site tickets the other day, 8 pieces in total. For a camping lot called Karting Nord, which is located just along the track, on the straight after the Porcshe curves, and before the Ford chicanes at the pit entry complex. But two tickets have already been reserved

My loose plans is to go down there by S2000, and if I can't get a bed on a mobile home, I'll bring a tent. But let me know, if you and your mate can get your suitcases packed !

XKE what the hell is that, some kind of Jaguar ?

Geez, life is tough. All that we have to deal with, and then there's going through Paris. How can you possibly manage! What a great city. Maybe, it's changed... NO Doubt! But, I loved it.

As for the XKE, it was a car capable of scaring a 20-some year old many year's ago, but only when a snail moving Citron got in the way in a tunnel!! Some how we survive in spite of our stupid stunts. But that's another story. LeMans will also be at the top of my list for sportscar endurance tracks. Save me and the mate (Auzz'y term right?) a spot, I'm coming back as soon as it stops raining!!

, well I guess everything has to be put into perspective.

But the inner ring road in Paris, is a scary experience. Even though if you get in there you have actually taken a wrong turn.

But these days the bikers have this contest, about who can drive the fastest around the ring road in the rush hour. So this naturally gives some exiting situations
