Default Legal Question for Estate or Insurance Lawyer

I have a simple question (at least I think it is).

In NY, is a life insurance beneficiary confidential? Can the Life ins. co. disclose who beneficiaries were or can the employer or union, who contracted for the insurance?

I'm not a lawyer but I'd be very surprised if they can give any information about someone's policy to anyone but the policy holder. If it's a company paid policy, yes, I would imagine they can. However, if it's your personal policy paid by you, no,they probably can't divulge that information.
