LindowsOS
I'd keep an eye on Lycoris (http://www.lycoris.com) instead. Lindows has recieved a fair number of bad reviews, and I personally did not find it too appealing. The current version (build 48) is OK, but their next major release (soon-ish, I think) is supposed to be substantially better in the usability department. Take a look at their screenshots to get an idea.
If you want a nice distribution of Linux right now, I'd suggest Mandrake (more user-friendly than RedHat, IMO), with a couple add-ons that make it look prettier (check out http://ww.kde-look.org)

I think it's mostly because they feel forced to use it. We want the right to choice without it costing us an arm and a leg and then tying us in to a system.
I have to confess that the latest releases of Windows 2000 and XP are pretty user friendly and resolve a lot of my issues with NT and 9X, but why in hell do they change the names and methods every single release. I spent ages on the weekend trying to find the Scandisk (or equivalent) utility on my step-brother's laptop. Gave up in the end.
