Default Linkin Park fans?

I'm a big Linkin Park fan, and got up early this morning to run out and buy Minutes To Midnight.

Holy crap, what is this? There are only 4 songs on the CD that I like, and even those aren't up to their usual greatness.

Talk about a turn for the worst. I really dislike when bands "change their sound". That sound you just changed is the reason I listen to you!

I am glad I listened to it before I went out and bought it.

Not the biggest fan but the drummer lives right down the street from my sister.

I saw Linkin Park and Korn in tampa a couple years back with the Projekt Revolution tour. Needless to say the show was awesome, Korn was incredible.

maybe linkin park had to change their sound up because all their songs sounded the same...? i don't know, i'm obviously not a fan, but all the songs they had on the radio sounded really similar to each other. it kind of seemed to me that they found a formula that sold, and the record company pressured them into making music similar to what worked. maybe now that they have a little more freedom as artists they want to try something different. sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

when the beatles switched it up from doing "love me do" and "hard day's night" type stuff to "a day in the life" and "strawberry fields" type stuff, people were probably like "WTF?..." it might have taken awhile to get use to it, but now their later stuff is legendary... and their earlier stuff, still legendary, but not quite as artistic. same with radiohead... they're always doing new crazy shit, but they're talented so no matter what it is, it works. even if people are like "what the....?" at first.

I havent heard the new cd, but from what i'm told/what i've read, the music has alot of political undertones (Iraq, Bush etc). The relationship whining lyrics of their previous records must have gotten old for them so now they are jumping on the "F Bush" bandwagon like everyone else.....pretty lame. Linkin Park is washed up, they aren't cool anymore.

I definitely didn't think all LP songs sounded the same. They were the same style, but I could enjoy them all uniquely.

This new CD is mostly just boring. Maybe the record companies were pressuring them into a "winning formula" before, but it's not like they're churning out tons of albums all with the same sound, and their first cd was quite unique. Since this is only their 3rd original album, one can only claim that Meteora was a "pressured" album which I really don't agree with.

LP was a rock band. Listening to this cd there is no way I can imagine a stadium packed with thousands all jumping up and down rocking out to this.

Love it, hate it, either way, just stating my opinion which is mostly disappointment.
