The reason a lot of the previous Linkin Park songs sounded the same/similar was because they were almost all written in D Minor.

are the songs mostly slow paced and mellow?

I've only heard one song fom the album and it's the radio released one, so I really can't call on if it is a good album or not. I have a very unique taste in music, so I don't really go by a lot of reviews.

C Unit, I understand what you're coming from, but back when they were known as "Hybrid Theory", their sound was a bit differnt and I really enjoyed it. Though they probably had to change their appearance a bit, I was a fan of theirs from the album "Hybrid Theory" and through their experimentation of their "Reanimation" album, up to "Meteora".

After that, they dissappeared and lost their target audience. How long has it been? 4 years?

I dig the new album, I dl'ed the leaked version and its pretty good.

I wasn't really fan of their old stuff though, just a few of their singles. so maybe that's why I enjoy minute to midnight so much?

I don't think it's all that bad. It defenitly is different than what everyone will be familiar with. There are a couple songs on there that just don't fit the Linkin Park name. If I were to just hear it on the radio, I probably wouldn't believe it was them singing.

I can't quite put my finger on what exactly is different. Less of Joe Hahn? I don't know.

first off: i love linkin park let that be known def my fav band loved them since they started.

been to all their tours etc...

just got done listenin to minutes to midnight and here is what i think:

i read all the lyrics as i was listening to the songs which helped as it let me know exactly what the song was about as most of the tracks are not typical linkin park style. (i always lift to lp).

soo many people are dissapointed with this album but after listening to it, reading the lyrics and understanding that they wanted a different approach to this album than usual i like it.

the only thing i wish was different is to have more songs (as they recorded over 100 for this album). specifically: QWERTY

if they put some other songs on the cd like that to give the best of both worlds it woulda been sick, but in the end its different but i like it

i downloaded the album one week before today...i like the new sound/style.
In LP's previous albums they would slowly build up to the climax and Chester would scream like no other...in this album they still have that but not too much. You have to listen to this album with a good sound system.

Linkin Park has always been pretty annoying. The singer's voice is always in the same range, modulates the same way...

The riffs are typical and interchangeable. The angst they try to portray is just goofy.

If you want brutal, angry music listen to Into the Moat, Between the Buried and Me, Norma Jean, August Burns Red, Psyopus, just to name a few. These bands make Linkin Park look like NSync.

As for bands changing their sound - they're evolving! Radiohead took a HUGE turn with Kid A, and that album and Insomniac are incredible. I'm actually more a fan of their newer electronic stuff (as well as Thom Yorke's solo album 'The Eraser') than the rock stuff. Of Montreal's 'Satanic Panic in the Attic' is a legendary album that completely took a new direction... and it was for the better.

I haven't heard this new LP CD, and I probably won't, but my guess is that they're experimenting and that's a good thing. How many albums can they make with the same style riffs, modulating voice in every chorus, and "nu metal baddass" look?

Linkin Park sucks balls. I can't believe I own two of their CDs. I can't even listen to their songs now, so played out. Every song sounds the same.

They were on SNL and sucked ass there too. The new songs stink.

They're over Johnny.
