living with parents
nastinupe made a really insightful post in s2k talk about kids living with their parents:
There's nothing wrong with living with your parents. It's the Western society that teaches us that we should leave our family. In many parts of the world, even after you're married, you live with your parents and siblings. It makes more sense to me. You can save money, you have a stronger family bond, the kids have cousions to play with, and there's always a baby sitter avaliable. Not to mention more than one woman in the house to cook and help prepare the meals for the family.
thoughts?

Coming from a Taiwanese family, I can see where you're (OP) coming from when referencing to many parts of the world. It's a double edge sword. I do agree that it can help in family bonding and building relationships. However, sometimes it has the tendency to breed laziness and kids who can never stand on their own feet. I've seen both.
I also prefer to live on my own till I have my own family. But living close to my parents has always been a concern. I visit my parents on a regular basis since I live only 20 minutes away.

I lived with my parents after college until I could afford to buy a home, which luckily was only about 15 months. If I still lived with them now I could be driving an F40 instead of the s2k.
Nothing wrong with it.
Having more ppl under one roof can be a good thing, especially when it comes to finances and other matters. Figure your parents have lived longer than you, maybe they learned something that might benefit you so mistakes aren't repeated.
Striving towards a goal w/parents:
Free-loading off your parents because you're a bum =

I lived with my folks till I moved across the country 5 months ago because I was saving to buy a house. Unfortunately that's no easy task when they "entry level" homes are $300K+
