Long distance car purchase. HELP
I am selling my Shogun, and have found a buyer in Wisconsin. He has sent me the phone number to the bank to confirm that he has gotten a loan, but cannot pick the car up for almost 2 full weeks.
What would you do? I have had at least 3-4 cars per day about the car, so it could probably be sold to someone else, but I don't want to screw the first guy that I agreed to sell it to.?
He said he may be able to come sooner and drive it back (shesh.. the car probably won't make it back...1000+ miles).
if you have any advice, much appreciated...

Can't the buyer send you some reasonable amount of deposit money (enough that he won't back out of the deal)? You can tell the people who are still calling that you've have a "contract pending" to sell, but if this buyer doesn't follow through with the deal, you will call them back right away.
If I were a serious buyer for a rare car, I'd certainly expect to put $$$ down or risk losing it to another buyer who might be willing to bring you all the money tomorrow.

Its pretty unusual for a bank to give a car loan for out of state purchases. Call his bank for sure. Frankly, sell to the first person to show up with money. Cash in hand is worth more than a promise to buy.
