That's what I'm thinking - plasmas and LCDs are supposed to last 60,000 hours before 50% fade - thats 6 $100 bulbs for a 10,000 DLP tv, so $600-$900 in maint versus $1500 savings between a $1500 DLP and a $3000 plasma. The best part of the bulbs is you get refreshed brightness - something you can't get in a plasma or LCD. Now that i think about it, maybe I want a bulb DLP over an LED DLP...

I bet you will only set your plasma to ~50% brightness from the get go, so in 60,000 hours, you can crank it up to 100% and get back to where you started. 6.8 years is a long time to be watching tv..
