i guess it depends on how you are going to use it.

every feature of this phone is great, except the phone feature.
it's a great little gadget, and it's fun.
but as a phone, it is so weak.

when you have to sit around and have to kill some time,
you'll be happy if you have this toy.

but when it's time to make some important phone calls,
you would want to kill yourself with a butter knife.

i had to get a blackberry or such,
because what i do for living, i have to be always be ready for phone calls and e-mails.
iphone came out so i got it instead of a blackberry.
BIG MISTAKE.
just as a "phone" this thing is so unreliable, it got me into embarrassing situations too many times.

and battery only lasts two days or so... if you don't play with it.
if you keep surfing the internet or play music, you can kill it from a full charge in 6 hours.
so when i have to stay in the office for extra hours or go business trips,
i always have to bring the charger.

i thought i bought a defect so did everything i could-
getting new ones, replacing sim card, complains to both apple and at&t,
and turns out that's just how it is with this phone.

so, think about how you are going to use it.
if you are going to use it as a toy and
only going to make occasional calls to friends and family to say "what's up"...
you'll have a great experience.
if you are going to use it in a business/professional environment,
DO NOT GET THIS PHONE.

cnet lists the iphone as one of their top phones for 2007:

HERE

in my experience, it's a fantastic device. although it lacks in a few areas (no 3G, no gps, etc.) it's interface more than makes up for it. if you haven't used one, go to the apple store and play with one in person - that will sell you if you're on the brink of deciding.

HOWEVER, if i were you, i'd wait to buy one until next summer. there are very strong rumors that a 3G iphone will be out by may or june (steve jobs and the ceo of att have strongly hinted that this will happen) and will likely have a slightly different form factor, more memory etc.

also, starting this february a software development kit will be out for developers so third party applications should start popping up around then. which will be awesome.

a guy here at work just bought the iphone, set it up and started using it. he ended up taking it back yesterday and picking up a BB Curve. It was a nice phone, but it wasn't what he thought it was as far as email and ease of use was.

i love my BB 8830!

I used to carry around a PDA, an MP3 player, a phone for talking, a phone for text messaging, a laptop, and my nintendo DS.. just like the douche bag in the commercial. Now, thanks to my iPhone, my pockets are free to carry doggie treats for my 4 hot girl friends.

My friends all love their iPhones - no complaints from any of them, even for making phone calls. If you want a phone with Internet connectivity, I think its a good phone, but its $$$$.

I'd rather have 3G however, and that will impact battery life more than EDGE.

I've had one since day one, and really really like it.

I love my iPhone. I'll buy v2 when it comes out. The UI is great. It has few gliches. It's worlds better than the treo 750 i had before it.

FYI....

1)Edge on iphone is FASTER than 3G on most phones. I have proven this to dozens of people using a blackjack, a treo750, and an iphone.
2)There is no phone on the market today that can browse the net like an Iphone.
3)Blackberry curve is for posers.

The ONLY thing an Iphone does WORSE than other phones (mainly BBs) is email. BB email is instant, while iphone is every 15 minutes (unless you are on wifi).
