Not at a self-checkout, but at my bank last week I went through the drive-up teller to make a commercial deposit and also cash 2 personal checks ($75 and $6). When the envelope came back it was pretty thick so I upon opening it I realized there was WAY too much money in there. Sure enough, I looked at the receipt and they gave me not $81 but $756!
I hit the "call" button and said said there was a descrepincy with the transaction so I'm sending it back. She thanked me profusely, to which I responded "I can wait a couple weeks for a present like the rest of the good boys and girls"

Wow. Question is, would they have come to you for the money eventually or would they have taken the loss?

Good to know that there is still a little bit of honesty left in this world.

I don't think they controlled who picked up the wallets, it just happened that no hispanics or oriental test subjects picked up the wallets.

I worked at a bar in college and found several wallets over time. Mostly female wallets that had fallen out of purses. I don't think I ever looked to see how much money was in them, just look for ID and bring it to the DJ so he could make an announcement over the PA.

One time I turned one in tha someone had already cleaned the money out of and the drunk girl saw me turn it into the DJ. She came up to me later and started cursing me out like I stole her money. I told her that if I wanted her money I would never have turned it in, (I could have chucked it into the garbage) and maybe if she did not get so hammered she would not have dropped it in the first place. At that point her girlfriends pulled her away and out the door because I was really gonna let her have it at that point.

Thieves are as low as murderers in my book. If something does not belong to you, it does not belong to you.

*****I also need an extra pass on spelling, grammar and punctuation the next few days. I am on lots of vicodin. Weeeeeeeee........*******

haha, i don't think it's very PC to refer to asian people as "orientals" these days. but i could be wrong... that stuff changes all the time.
