A friend of mine just finished up a project that he's been working on and I went for a ride with him the other day... this thing is a blast! The acceleration is so smooth, you don't realize just how fast you're going until you look at the speedometer. What's really funny is how fast it will accelerate at the same time it's smoking the tires. Anyway, there's a few pics for anyone who's interested... Here

How fast is it? Is it 4WD? Where'd he get the motor?

It's 2wd. He hasn't done any timing tests yet. Right now the acceleration isn't what it could be because of tire spin. In 4th gear from about a 35mph start it got up to 120mph quicker than my S2000 will get to 90mph from about a 50mph (at revs) start at the same point. This is on a road behind work where we have some landmarks set up that we do some informal speed at distance runs.

He bought the motor and a T56 tranny directly from Dodge, they offer it as one of their crate motors now.

Nice truck.
Now if he could stuff that motor into a PT Cruiser that would be something.

Man, get some good tires on that thing before going that fast. He needs some speed rated tires.

Also, I can't imagine that thing is very stable at those speeds.

I'm not familiar with the tranny. 5 or 6 speed?

I really thought that it was going to be pretty scary riding in the thing and I was amazed at how well it works. It's pretty stable at speed and it tracks pretty straight even with smoke billowing off the tires. What really got me was just how quickly it got up to 100mph, it just didn't feel like we were accelerating that hard.

The transmission is the same 6-speed that they put in the Viper, Vette, and F-body cars.

WOW how do I signup for a donor viper v10 that was impressive. Suppose the conversion works well since both donor and recipient are rear-wheel drive. Did the Dakota start out with 5.9 Magnum?! Very Nice thanks

He ordered it with a 4.7L V-8 and a 5-speed.
