lou reed lives on!
just picked up two new discs from this geriatric punk - "the raven" and "nyc man".
the raven is incredible and has the likes of david bowie, willam defoe, amanda plummer and steve buscemi (doing a lounge lizard inspired rendition of a broadway song). i would not recommend this to anyone who wants to be able to hum the songs after listening to the album once. this takes some time but is really addictive.
nyc man is one of the best compilation discs ever produced. lou reed did not put the songs in chronological order but instead arranged them as if they were all being released for the first time. he begins and ends with new cuts and mixes all the rest of the stuff (sweet jane, heroin, waiting for my man, sally can't dance, rock and roll, dirty boulevard, etc.) in the order he thinks it best flows.
i would recommend both of these to anyone who appreciates VU or lou reed's solo stuff.
