Hooch tastings can be good networking tools; this is a bit dependent on how many people are invited and the location. I'd recommend going regardless of your opinion of the product.

I just got much more into the scotch in recent times, and was suprised at the differences between the various types/brands.
Macallan is one of the types we tried out in a 12 hour scotch bender taste test at my girlfriend's step dad's house and it was in the top 2 of my preferred. By the end I think there were 4 of us that had downed about 9 bottles so the only other one I remember really liking started with a "T" and it was smooth as silk.
Go check it out, worst case you'll have been to an event at which they serve free booze, and there ain't nuthin' wrong with that.

Macallan is ok, but I prefer the Balvenie line of scotch. The Double Wood is the regular, with the Port Wood or Signature for special occasions.
Every once in a while though I like the strong smokey peet flavor of Johnny Black.

My thoughts exactly. I'll wager there won't be another magician at the tasting, so I can market with impunity and without competition.

I love Scotch. Macallan is a good low priced single malt.
And the Dutch. They love their scotch as well.

I would have to agree that Macallan is a good scotch. I prefer Glenlivet 12yr for normal scotch drinking. A little smoother for me. And I have to have it on the rocks. I'm not man enough yet to drink it neat. It's my scotch and I'll drink it how I want. One of my all time favorite was Glenmorangie Port Wood. It was aged in ex bourbon barrels for 10 years and then in port barrels for 2 years. They stopped making it for some reason. They have something similar called Quinten Rueben that's supposed to replace it, but it's just nasty. And I do love Glenmorangie 18 yr. Johnny Walker Black is nice too.
