well if you were to turn off one hemisphere, then that side of the body would become paralyzed. if you could control this turning off in some way, then you would still lose control of that entire half of your body. so if u disable your right hemisphere, the left side of your body would be asleep as well and you wouldnt be able to control it at all beyond any quick reflexes that your brain controls.

perhaps if this machine came with the technology that allows you to hotwire yourself into the autonomic nervous system? then it would be pretty fun, but you'd also have to consciously control a ridiculous amount of information, and then it'd be no fun!
I would, I don't sleep well now as it is and just think of all of the cinamax skin flicks I could watch at night...

well, youd only be able to watch out of one eye. and youd only have utilization of one hand. i dont know enough to determine whether or not you can get it "up" with half a brain

Lots of assumptions need to make and those are very unlikely.

Given that:
Absolutely no side effects (no deterioration of health)
Brain can still function as normal (doesn't seem possible with only one side of the brain)

Hell, I'd definitely go for it. Imagine the time you save. You sleep 1/3 of your entire life.

Interesting. If I'd not be sleepy I may do it if I could also turn it off occationally.

I do like sleep, just don't like that I need so much of it.
