typo in magician's post....

the universe will now fold upon itself.
Oops.

Fixed.

Universe saved. (At least, the portion for which I'm to blame.)

We are fine, and the horses are fine. There are some areas near us that are under flood watch: those that were severely burned in the fire two years ago.

We live near the Santa Ana river, which is essentially a flood channel. It usually has only a trickle of water in it, but now it's a torrent. It would need to rise another ten feet or so before any flooding occurred, and that's quite unlikely.

The worst situation (in the neighboring counties) will occur in the Spring, long after the rains have stopped and people have forgotten about them. Some of the hillsides are getting saturated now, and the water will percolate into any unstable layers and begin to erode them. I expect that we'll see hillsides sliding, along with the houses atop them. That won't affect us, but I could imagine it in some of the hills near us.

Happy to hear it. Thanks for the update. All you guys need now is a little 5pt. shaker or jolt to really make a mess of things. I sure hope it doesn't happen.

George: how are you doing in the rains? Did you have to evacuate? Did you get stuck in the mud? Are you eagerly awaiting more rain Sunday, then Wednesday, then New Year's Day?

Blecch!
