Made it back from Europe . . . thank God
Last Saturday I was very fortunate to make it home from a two-week marketing trip through Europe: London, Paris, Geneva, Zürich, Frankfurt, Moscow, and Kiev.
The trip home comprised a flight from Kiev to Frankfurt, then another from Frankfurt to LAX. The Kiev flight left at 5:45 AM. Because it was snowing fairly heavily I wasn't sure it would take off, so I had to get up at 2:00 to be collected by a driver at 3:00. Not so bad until you realize that I'd been teaching Friday night and, after dinner, got to bt between 11:30 and midnight. The flight was delayed a bit, but took off.
Frankfurt was another story: when I arrived and looked at the departure board I saw about 2 - 3 dozen flights that were cancelled. Fortunately, the 10:05 to LAX was still listed as on-time.
It wasn't of course. I won't bore you with the details of getting through Frankfurt airport, but thank God I had a 2-hour layover. The plane finally left about two hours late, and high-tailed it to LAX, arriving only about one hour late.
Several of the people with whom I was working in Kiev were supposed to fly home to London on Sunday. They haven't left Kiev yet. I don't know if they'll get there before Christmas.
What a mess!

Glad you made it back safe and ONLY an hour late. I've been seeing the news where people in Europe, especially Heathrow are stuck for DAYS.
I saw reports about that last night on the news. Glad you made it back before the Christmas!

Wait wait wait...do grammar Nazis celebrate Christmas?
If I ever meet a grammar Nazi I'll ask him and pass along my findings.
Without considering inclement weather conditions, I can ssay I have never had the pleasure of being in a worse airport than Logan...
And i have been in LAX, LaGuardia, Ohare, Dullas, Reagan, Atlanta, SeaTac and Newark!!
Welcome home!
