I know nothing of diamonds and nothing of rings. All I know is that's the one she wanted. She told me that if I were to propose with a Spaghetti-O that she'd say yes. Also, I think the ring box sucks. I may need to get a different one.

OK, here's my 2 cents. Plan a date, or a time to propose and do it now. Then ask her father, in person, if he will bless your "union".
For the rest of your lives, ppl will ask how you met and how you got engaged. So make it memorable. Mine was the 4th of July with fireworks. Didn't cost anything but it's a good story.
At your ages, and in the state of your relationship, it seems dumb to wait.
Report back here when the deed is done. I hate only getting half a story.
