well I was in disbelief for a while, then I decided to forget it. 1/2 point was only 1% on the test. I'm not going to go anywhere with this. i was just wondering what you guys would come up with

Actually, that IS the proper equation for it, not yours. You may end up with the same answer, but his is the proper way to set up an algebraic equation. So his teacher is not an idiot.
