mazda built a rotary powered hydrogen miata a little while back. hydrogen and the rotary are often seen as a perfect marriage.

the environmental nuts praise hydrogen, yet they turn the other way when they are told that to actually CREATE hydrogen takes A LOT of energy via coal, oil, nuclear, etc. hydrogen is plentiful, but in it's H2 state it is not, at least not here on earth. Currently, the process is to either break down water (takes energy) or to mix many expensive chemicals (and then toss the waste).

Hydrogen is a nice fuel. practical, it is NOT.

i believe i read from a magazine(road and tracks or motortrends) one of those saying it's going to use gas and hydrogen.

I think you'll find that the ones backing hydrogen are those that want the general public to think that they're interested in the environment (ie, the current administration).

both candidates back it.

the challenger thinks we're dependent on mideast oil, when in fact we only get 12% from there. just a factoid.

It is even less practical in a 2800 pound car that gets 18 mpg if you are lucky. Many people have been getting 16 in mixed driving. I love the noises and power delivery of the wankel, but they are not efficient engines by any stretch of the imagination.
