I've always opened doors, sent notes/cards, flowers w/o an occasion...
And I've been told by gf's not to open doors for them. Chivalry
isn't dead, it's just getting shot down. I think it has partly to do
with women being independent and not wanting to rely on a man.
...I could ramble about past experiences, but that might be better
suited for another thread.
I'm guessing my experiences aren't typical (I hope).

i agree with the partly to do with independant women, but there is a line...i am indpendant but i still enojoy the notes, the opening of doors ect..ive never been a big flower fan though partly cause i am allergic to them

It's done on the basis that the guys know which girls are interested in them from the presents they get in Feb, and so have a chance to "make a mark" with the presents in March ..... there is a lot of poilitics in the office though .... you have to make sure that you don't give one girl a better present than the others unless you are interested, because they can read a lot into things like that ....
