I was at Ft. Campbell for most of my childhood, I love that place. What is really
ed up though is, here in WA there was a guy in his 30s who was driving around with a Medal of honor License plate which gives you benefits etc. Well he got caught and it was a big news story. The weird thing was...I was working one day, and this older guy with his wife I was doing a transaction with suddenly brings up the story. He tells me that he got the medal of honor and that 30 y/o stole it from him or faked it from the Licensing place. I was like wow I heard about that. Well he was about to eave then suddenly came back and gave me 2 pictures of him, one was him shaking the Presidents hand and receiving the Medal and another was him in an Army photo wearing the medal and had some writing on the back. I did some research and wondered why he didn't tell me about the medal and why and where he got it. I did find out later in a book he received it during D-day invasion of normandy in 1944. I still keep the pictures in my wallet and still not sure why he gave them to me since it didn't seem like he had any extra copies. Great guy though. For thoe of you who don't know the medal of honor is such a rare award awarded to the most heroism in combat. People usally get it for rushing pillboxes or machine gun nests to protect their men, or one story was a soldier who was wounded in the med evac area with other wounded soldiers suddenly saw a grenade thrown at them. The wounded soldier didn't want his comrades to get hurt so he jumped on the grenade himself to protect his buddies which of course killed him....Saved many lives. Many recepients get the medal awarded posthumoursly which means they got killed doing there courageous act. If you ever see any of these guys give them the most respect, they deserve it.

My buddies sister-in-law is there in a supply convoy. She said that the tanker she was driving was blown up with a RPG then a while later some insurgents rammed her Humvee head-on. I guess she was injured twice. Not sure if she got any medals for that. Anyway, thanks for your service.
