eh I have always favored the "ratpack" sort of manliness. You can be well groomed, clean cut when the situation calls for it. but be a goddamned man when you have to be, and not be ashamed of it.

now I'm going to go have a whiskey on the rocks. and maybe shave with my straight razor.
